Hawks Start Strong, Drop Points in the End
(Newark, DE - 1:00 PM, Delware Mini Stadium)
The Hawks traveled up to Delaware for their final pre-season friendly against the University of Delaware Blue Hens (NCAAD1). After building a commanding 3-0 halftime lead off goals by Lucio, Anders Kelto, and Carlos Garcia, the Blue Hens were able to pump in four goals after the 60 minute mark to earn a draw. While the heat and lack of subs against a youthful college side certainly played a role, it's clear that the Hawks will have to raise the bar in order to advance in regional play. Sunday's game also marked the entry of the Hawks into the digital era, complete with video highlights. Regional Cups commence next week, with the Hawks away to Pennsylvania Open Cup champs, Vereinigung Erzgebirge Majors.
